Introducing Jean-Philippe Allen
Meet Jean-Philippe Allen (JP), who’ll be making the natural progression from his current role as a CABS Director of Finance to Vice President, Finance, for the 2017 fiscal year!
Hailing from Saint-Anselme, Quebec, which is apparently the best place to have maple taffy and touch up on your French language skills, JP was involved in his first business case competition with Cégep in Québec City in 2011.
In the same year, he took on his first executive position with a student association, eventually leading him to serve as VP Finance for the Bishop’s University Commerce Society in 2014/2015. Originally intending to study marketing, JP developed a true love for accounting and has never looked back since. His 5-year plan is to complete his CPA, work abroad, and see where that takes him!
We also asked JP some more fun questions to get to know a little bit more about him!
CABS: What would be your top three countries to travel to if money and time were not a factor?
JP: 1) Switzerland: Since it has the best skiing spots in world
2) Canada: I know this sounds cheesy and overdone but I really want to road trip Canada East-West eventually.
3) Singapore: I’m being a nerd here, but a city-state with one of the most developed market economies worldwide – who wouldn’t want to visit?
CABS: If you were a kitchen appliance, what would you be, and why?
JP: An espresso machine, I’m just addicted to coffee.
CABS: If you had to switch to a field of study other than business, what would you choose, and why?
JP: Probably engineering, I actually almost made the switch after Cégep. I’m a very number oriented person and I have had multiple jobs in industries, my best buds were always the engineers.
